The Perfect Horse

Continuing with a series of posts revolving around my favorite horse books...
The Perfect Horse by Gillian Baxter

Gillian Baxter is a British author, I don't know much about her, as this is the only book of hers that I own. However I love this book! It is definitely in my top 20 favorite horse books ever. :) It seems to be a part of a series involving the 'Bracken Stables' but I have not come across any of the others.

Synopsis:
Bobby is a famous show jumper in England. Out of the blue, her spoiled cousin Ellen decides she wants a horse to do eventing with. Money is no object. Alas, they find Minos, who really is 'The Perfect Horse." Out of an Anglo/Arab mare, by a Connemara stud, Minos is a lovely 16hh, golden dun, made eventer.

Ellen is snobby as ever with her new mount. She plans to take him to Badminton, to impress a boy. Long story short, Ellen injures Bobby's famous show jumper, Sheltie. Bobby kicks Ellen out of her stable, Ellen moves to another farm, gets hurt on someone eles's horse (as she is so arrogant on Minos, she thinks she can ride anything.) Ellen apologizes to Bobby, and asks her to take Minos round at Badminton.

Great reading from 1963! (An oldie, but a goodie!)
