Hmm..
From a CL ad: I will consider trades for about anything that doesn't eat! Horse hay, a round pen, saddles, tack, cattle chute used for roping in an arena, or whatever else horsey or farmey that you have. I would also trade for beef cattle, or roping calves/steer that don't have to all be fresh. Would consider a registered quarter horse just because I would rather have something solid colored than paint. Would also consider solid paints but no blue eyed ones. Ok... so, I guess you WOULD trade for something that eats then? Link

Ugh!!!
OMG! Are these people trying to kill their damn kids??? Both from CL ads today, same seller. This one is freaking horrifying! All that horse has to do is TAKE ONE STEP and that baby would fall off! ARGGHHH!!
This is slightly less offensive, as the parent is right there and can grab hold of the kid, BUT it says right on their ad "He is not broke to ride yet." Okay, so not broke to ride, but I'll test him out with my tiny freaking child. ***Headdesk***
These really bother me!

From Craigslist Farm and Garden horse ads posted this weekend...
- 13.5 hh Chestnut
- 14.5 hh Dark turning gray
- cremollow mare
- one horse is described as "very gantle"
- "I have to many horse this is the only reason for saleing these horses"
- "For Sale big stout gelding Will broke sorrel with 4 stocken feet. He has been roped off of but there is not working really right now ,but would make A good gentle trail hores . There was A 12yr old girl riding him when I brought him. The horse is about 16 or 17yrs old"
- "She is not broke to ride... Would be willing to trade for a broke quarter horse or paint, mare or gelding" (Yeah... I bet you are!)
- 16.5 hands
- miniature raon pony
Not horse related, but...
- rabbits if do no go will eat them
My head is exploding. At least these people are trying to find these poor animals new homes! Hopefully, no one will eat the horses if the don't sell...

Bad Horse Ads and Other News
My friend Kelsey found this one...
Because being able to go through McDonald's drive-thru is an important skill most riders require of their horse. Link
Edited to ad:

In other news, I drove around the corner this morning and three of my other idiot neighbor's horses were out on the road! Lovely. These people have 6-8 scrubby broodmares contained with an okay perimeter fence but cross fenced with one strand on knee high hot wire, which may or may not even be hot. (head shaking)
I have already stopped my car TWICE, on my way home from work, in my work clothes, and caught their loose horses for them. I have been able to bribe them back on to their property, and then used a tiny piece of rope to close off the "gate."
Well, this morning, I couldn't be bothered. I pray no one hits the horses with their car and gets hurt (horse or human), but good grief! I can't save the world!

I Hope They Are NOT Still Breeding!
From Craigslist:
"Young Horses Free"
"I have 2 or 3 young horses that I am willing to give away. All are arbians of good stock. Two are weanlings--a colt and a filly , one is a yearling gelding. I am trying to move them because I expanded too fast and do not have the facility to keep them all. They are all very healthy animals with good confirmation. They have been handled daily but not worked with much. Only prerequisite is new owner must already have horses and know something about horses. My place is 2 mile south of Summerfield IL."
Link
PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE I hope these people did not breed back all their mares!
You can hardly give away horses right now. The top of the market (20k+) horses seem to be selling okay (I guess...), but the bottom of the market has completely fallen out!
People need to give their broodmares a year (or forever) off! With the slaughter plants now closed, the number of unwanted horses is only increasing, yet back yard breeders keep pumping them out.
(Like my neighbor with the fugly stud, when I suggested he get it gelded, said, at one point "Maybe I'll take 'em over to my brothers and have him breed a couple mares." To which I replied "We don't need anymore like him!" That guy has NO CLUE!)
It is official, right now on Craigslist, saddles are worth more than most of the horses!!!
I also love how, everyday, I see people's ads wanting to trade their un-broke, green horse for your broke horse! Are you kidding me? Nobody wants your scrubby, never been touched, back yard bred crap, especially not to trade for their safe, broke horse! Give me a break!
From Craigslist:
"I am desperately seeking an inexpensive kid-broke horse for my 4 and 9 year olds. Their beloved mare passed away due to old age, and we would love to have a new one to soften the news.
I would be willing to trade my 4 year old green-broke Quarter philly for 2 well broke horses.
If you have one for sale, or are interested in a trade, please email me. I will send photos upon request."
This person wants TWO well broke horses for her "philly"?
Arghhhh!!!
Okay, sorry, that is the end of my rant! (For now. Poor horses.)
Edited to ad:
Another gem from CL (Pony for sale):
"He is still a stud and i cant afford to geld him so i need to sell him as soon as possible before he tries to breed his mom (she just had a new baby yesterday and it will also be for sale when it gets older)"
Arghhh!!! CANT AFFORD TO GELD HIM? IT COSTS $125!!! Why did you bred you mare again, if you can't afford to geld your colt???
And one more ($100 mini horse for sale):
"Black and white painted stallion. About three feet tall. Very frisky. Untrained. Not older than five years. We would like to trade him for a more companionable, riding horse"
You're asking $100 for this mini, but would like to TRADE for a riding horse???
PEOPLE!!! Come on!
