Dreams, Signs, Omens and Things
Last night, after my late test, I stopped by a gas station near MSU to fill up. I was approached by two Christian girls who wanted to give me $20 for gas. "To help out a college student." I thought this was really nice, but feel that I cannot spend this $20, so I will probably give it to a homeless guy or something. Then I stopped by Taco Bell and they gave me a free empanada. I thought I must have done something to please God. :) Why else would the Christians have given me $20 and then Taco Bell hand out this gift of a free empananda?
Fast forward to this morning. I had a WEIRD dream last night, that my friend and I were trying to get over to the "other side" to find her boyfriend who passed away last November. We got through some sort of "portal" to another place it seemed, but got stuck. She made it over to the other side (in my dream) by killing herself. CREEPY! (I texted her this morning to tell her I love her!) :)
So, on the way to work, I take the highway and at my exit was a big C.U. truck blocking the way. They were cleaning up the remains of a HUGE German Shepard type dog who had been (very recently) ripped apart. Urgh! I almost threw up.
Then, As I turned into the neighborhood I cut through on my way to work, I drove through and caused a giant flock of big black birds to take off in flight. Strange...

Petey and Mags
Here is Pete on his fourth drive ever, Monday night, standing like a polite little man. This is my new whip, which I used with Pete for the first time.
He is doing SO good! Last night Petey did let out a few bucks, but I think he was just feeling good and excited, rather than being naughty or trying to kick free of the cart. Silly Pete! He is chugging along nicely in this pic though!
I also rode lovely Margo last night. She hasn't been ridden in so long, I think she was starting to forget what that is all about... :)
My babies! :)
It was so windy, I wore a helmet as a precaution. Margo was good though, and we had a nice canter around the pasture.

Pete's Third Drive!
I harnessed up Petey last night and drove him for only 10-15 min, as I had a test to study for, and he did AWESOME! He is so smart! I feel like a mom, bragging on my smart little child. Pete acts like a pro and is pushing on the shafts to make nice pivoting turns, as apposed to dragging the cart through the turns. Yay! :)

Vehicles for Petey...
Pete's 2nd Drive and Other Good News!
WELL... Daniel got called back to work today! He starts back tomorrow after almost 6 months of being laid off! Yay! :)
ALSO... I drove Petey for his second time ever last night! He was SO good! He is such a smart little pony! He did buck twice :l, little turd, I think he was just excited, but I am going to fit him with a bucking strap of some sort.
He is really good at "whoa" and standing still. He has a hard time getting started, but by the end of this session (and the first) he will stop and then start with just a tap of the whip and a "walk on Pete." So that will just be practice.
He is fairly good with steering, it is hard because he is brand new to this and my property is full of obstacles! We had one close call with the light pole, I thought we were going to hit it, but I gave a firm "WHOA!" and he slammed on the brakes and stood like a good boy while Dan came and led us around the pole.
Other than that, he is doing really good, as long as I don't ask for too sharp of a turn. I am having to have my breeching repaired today, there are a few stitches loose that I need re-sewn.
I also will need a slightly bigger cart soon. The one I have barelyfits him. Maybe, since Dan is going back to work, I can ponder this more... :)

Peter's First Drive!
My new friend Cari and her husband came out to the farm Sunday morning to help me start Pete to cart! Here we are after walking a million laps around the backyard, Cari was finally able to sit in the cart and let Pete feel some weight behind him.
Petey is thinking really hard...
Okay, ready to turn him loose?
Peter on his own!! Cari said he was looking around for me at first, but he soon got his confidence. (Pretty Margo in the background, wondering what we are doing to her pony!)
Nervous Mom in the drivers seat for the first time...
Cari is a good coach!
Peter pointing his toes! (Also shaking his head a bit, but Hey! It is his first time ever feeling the bit!)
There that is better...
And this is even better than the last pic! Pete looks like he is having fun and getting confident! :) Yay!
Pete and I are really excited to start driving together! What a good boy! :)
Thanks Cari for helping us! I think Petey and I both got a really positive start Sunday (after I quite being so nervous!) :)
