Horse of the Day

In order to try and offset all of the horrible things found online that I posted today, here are some cuties...

They are the same color as Pete!

Don't Throw Up, Vol. 2

Dear God. When I first posted this site, I thought it was funny.

Well, I went back and looked at it again today, and I have to say, it horrified me!

Examples:

Warning: Cover your innocent child's eyes! (Not that these parents did...)

Offensive...

More offensive...

Even more offensive... This one seriously almost made me vomit...
Oh, please! This is so bad on so many levels!
1.) She think posing like this WITH HER CHILD makes her look sexy/appealing?
2.) Her butt is grossing me out.
3.) She looks about 12 years old herself.
Mother of the year here!

Oh wait, no, I think this next girl is Mother of the Year. Seriously, W.T.F.???

My head just exploded.

OMG!

Here is another funny blog... Link
See, this is funny because no children will be scarred for life, like those in the above photos.

Bad Horse Ads and Other News

My friend Kelsey found this one...
Because being able to go through McDonald's drive-thru is an important skill most riders require of their horse. Link

In other news, I drove around the corner this morning and three of my other idiot neighbor's horses were out on the road! Lovely. These people have 6-8 scrubby broodmares contained with an okay perimeter fence but cross fenced with one strand on knee high hot wire, which may or may not even be hot. (head shaking)

I have already stopped my car TWICE, on my way home from work, in my work clothes, and caught their loose horses for them. I have been able to bribe them back on to their property, and then used a tiny piece of rope to close off the "gate."

Well, this morning, I couldn't be bothered. I pray no one hits the horses with their car and gets hurt (horse or human), but good grief! I can't save the world!

Off topic, but funny...

Was I ever on topic? :)
Here is a link to The 25 Worst Rapper Names of All Time.
Number 23 had me laughing so hard, I had to leave my desk. The rest of the artical is not as funny.

Hmmm...

Am I becoming one of those crazy "color" horse people?
This mare is too cute! On Dreamhorse.com here, but in Ozark!

Craigslist Horse

I'm not a Foxtrotter person, but this one is awfully cute! On Craigslist here.

Gah! More Craigslist Disasters!

Some days, Craigslist baffles my mind. Here are some gems from today's postings...

"Blah, blah, blah...wanting to sell because my daughter doesn't want to wait a year to ride(or until the foal is weaned), she's wanting to ride this spring/summer and it's just too hard to ride with a foal tagging along."
Well, then WHY DID YOU BREED HER? Because not enough horses are getting sent to Mexico to die in slaughterhouses?

Edited to ad:
I could not resist emailing this person (I'm bad) So, I sent the following message:
"I am just wondering why you bred this mare in the first place? There are way too many unwanted horses already."

She responded:
"Well when you decide to get off your high horse, maybe you'll realize not everyone is as bad as you think they are. This mare was already bred when we got her. We didn't know she was pregnant until she started getting big. Thanks for being a judgmental busy body. You should just keep your opinions to yourself before you say stupid things you know nothing about. If stupid people didn't get the slaughter plants closed down, there wouldn't be so many unwanted horses."

Dear God,
Please let this woman get sent to a slaughter plant to die when she is old and unwanted.
Amen.

I did reply, to try and be nice:
"Hi,
I'm glad you didn't irresponsibly breed this mare and then dump her on craigslist. Thanks for your response. I understand if you didn't know she was bred when you got her. But, if I can help stop one person from breeding, or even get them to think about it, I will try.
I hope you can find a great home for her!"

I just ask, if no one out there is a "judgemental busy body" and if everyone "keeps their opinions to themselves" then what is to stop people from beating their wives and children, starving their animals, etc?

This one isn't so bad, but will probably end up bad...
"Got an extra saddle?"
"My husband and I just got our first horse. We have been working with her on the ground with the help of our more experienced friends. We are ready to start working on getting a saddle on her but don't want anything fancy since we're just getting started. I would like for it to have a horn, though, to hold onto.
Does anyone out there have an old saddle you'd sell for cheap? Would like to keep it under $100 if at all possible.. Could go a little more, though, depending on the saddle. Since we are new at this, we'll need the blanket, bit, etc if you happen to have that, too.
"
Arghhh! I guarantee:
1. These people will get hurt by the horse
2. These people will end up being ruined on horses for good
3. The horse will suffer in the end and remain unbroke
It is a proven fact that beginners do not succeed at breaking green horses.
Yikes.

I don't know, maybe I should get down off my high horse and just not care... Or maybe I should just quit reading craigslist posts...

Missing White Horse...

"He is all white and has one swollen rear ankle. This photo is old he now weighs somewhere between 1000 and 1200 pounds. This was taken shortley after he was given to me. I have been acused of starving him from someone on craigslist tonight. I just want my horse back. If anyone has seen him please please let me know, I do not want him to get back in this condition or worse."

Yikes! Nice picture! Is his ankle swollen because he is standing around in all your junk?

Rode at Busiek Yesterday

It was so much fun! I have been there before, but riding there was way more fun! I took my camera, but forgot, until we got back.
It was such a nice ride! Great weather, no mt bikers, pretty stream...
Here is Margo and Amber after our ride...Margo, nice and crusty, booted up to go home... Tara pour water over Amber before this picture, she wasn't that wet!

Bull in the Heather

Well, bull in my back pasture... Here is the picture Dan took of the neighbor's bull in our back pasture, that goes with this post.

Horse(s) of the Day

One English...Love! Link
One Western...I don't love this guy's shirt, but the horse it cute and looks fun to show! Link

Scary

This makes me nervous! Yikes! Link
And this picture... I guess she is laughing? Having a heart attack? It really distracts from the horse... Link

In other news...

I get to work a half day today! Yeah!

Tara and I are going down to Busiek to trail ride today! Fun!

Neighbors

It doesn't matter if they are 50 ft from your house or 1/2 a mile, sometimes they suck!

Well, after dealing with the nonsense of my ignorant neighbors stud getting in my field and trying to breed my mare (he thankfully got the stud gelded) now, I have more problems!

My husband, Daniel, got home last night and the same neighbor with the stud apparently got a new bull. And where is said bull? In my field!!! Arghhh!

We could not figure out how he got in. Daniel went over and told the family, who sent the two oldest kids to get the bull. We tried "herding" him through the gate, grain, etc. It didn't work. So the kid gave the grain to the cows in his field. Well, the bull wanted some, so he walks over to the four strand barb wire fence, pushes his big head and neck between strands 2 and 3, and then climbs THROUGH the damn fence!

Lovely. So how the hell do I keep him out? Arghh! He is still a small bull, the bigger he gets, if he continues this behavior, he is going to end up pulling down my whole fence!

I can't stand this neighbor. He is a truck driver and only home 2 days a week, so his poor wife and kids have to solve the problems he creates. He obviously is not an experienced horseman (or cattleman, apparently).

I love how I have never had a problem with my livestock and the fence. Then again, I don't have stud horses and bulls!

Please God, let this man sell these animals that he has no business owning!

Halle-fuc*ing-lujah!!!!

Best news ever!!! My neighbor gelded his stud!!! Thank you, God!!!
Here is the little stinker the day he got in my pasture and was trying to breed Margo.
So... I am sure you are wondering how I found out? Well, my class-act neighbor came by last night with his horse's cut out testicles in the back of his truck. Daniel had the pleasure of seeing them, I, thankfully, was not home from work yet.
You can read about the trauma I went through with all this here and here.
Once again, Thank You, God!

WTF?!?

OMG!

Well, I posted this ad on craiglist this morning...
And one of my responses was from Margo's old owner, Ed! He recognized her from the picture! So, I asked him if he had any pictures of her babies, and he could only find one... Margo had a molly mule! Here she is! I almost died! I can see Margo in that face!!! Ha! Her name is Miss Kitty! I'm dying here! :)
